  • In the past, sending large files was a slow, time consuming undertaking. Just over twenty years ago, peer-to-peer models were created. This means that the need for a central server in sharing files was eliminated. Still, only small files could be transferred this way, and this was still restricted by the user’s bandwidth. 2001 saw the development of a new technical standard, the bittorent. How it works is that a computer with only a small portion of a file that another computer needs can send and receive bits of information. That way, instead of relying on the bandwidth capacity of either the sending or receiving computer, one benefits from the computing power of many different seeds in the system. At this point, it is no longer peer-to-peer, but many-to-many.

    Why Use Vuze?

    Vuze has made significant contribution to BitTorrent movement since inception. You can make content which you have downloaded, or which you are in the process of downloading, available to others. This is what is known as seeding. This does not in any way diminish the bandwidth of either computer. It is also a very powerful, yet lightweight tool. Newer, paid-for versions have even more features guaranteed to make your downloading and uploading even more efficient.

    Key Vuze Features Include:

    • Makes your torrent search and discovery easy;
    • You can manage your torrent downloads as well as control the speed;
    • It is an easy and friendly to use interface;
    • It works on hand-held devices such as phones and tablets;
    • It carries task-completion notices;
    • Automatically restarts when you reboot your device;
    • Works on Mac, Windows and Linux;
    • Has an Android app on which you can download torrents.

    Summary

    This tool serves heavy download users very well. Users will be relieved to find out that extensive studying of a manual is not required as the user interface is quite straightforward. In addition, the in-built manager allows you to track the progress of each task.
